Paraphrase and Quatation in " The Publication of Your Personal Profile"

An example of paraphrase: In the third interview, Carrier Ramsey, a staff member who works in the human resources department, said that she has never looked at a potential employee’s personal web page because she wants to focus solely on the skills and experiences of the potential employee.(Ramsey)
An example of quotation: “ The sheer enormity of Internet makes it both a powerful tool and also a Pandora’s box of problems”(Mohanty and Vohra 160)
In my opinion, the writer used paraphrase and quotation to make her article more persuasive and objective. It saved her time to find out this information by doing interviews or surveys on her own. She just collected information and used them to support her own thesis and showed them to the readers. It gave readers a broader horizon of her statement by paraphrasing and quotating.
The paraphrase gives an example of the an interview’s result to demonstrate there are effects on employing people if the employee see the personal things posted on the Facebook and Myspace. The quotation was used to be a topic sentence to show that posting information on the Internet can be a benefit or a disaster. Strangers can easily have access to your personal information. That is not safe for private information.

Winners Writing the History

There is a famous saying in the Chinese—‘The losers are always wrong’. A large number of things are determined by forces in this world throughout the whole history, as the resources are in scarcity and people are avid for more things to meet their needs.
As the wars begin, it must come out a result that who is the winner and who is the loser. There are many emperors in the Chinese history. For instance, Bang Liu defeated Yu Xiang and became the first emperor of the Han dynasty. As a result, later generation considered Yu Xiang to be silly and swollen with pride and that was why he became a loser. The truth may be not like that, however, Yu Xiang was a virtuous braver but Bang Liu was shady. The only reason the later generation believed like that is that the history was written by Bang Liu, the winner.
Suppose if the history was written by the loser, like Yu Xiang, it may not reflect the real history as well. The loser must avoid their faults and put the reason of their failures on the luck but not their own lacking.
In my opinion, the fairest way of writing the history is that the history was written by the third party that was not involved in the wars.
